Proficient Learners

Students at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School enter the early grades at a significant disadvantage compared to their peers at wealthier schools. They face the dual challenges of learning English as a second language and often lack access to books and technology at home. The pandemic has further exacerbated these challenges, as many students fell even further behind during distance learning.

These gaps mean we devote considerable effort in the early years to help students catch up academically. Despite these obstacles, our students make consistent progress through a supportive and intensive learning environment. Although they may remain behind their peers for some time, by the time they leave our school in eighth grade, they have successfully caught up and are well-prepared for the rigors of high school. This achievement is a testament to their hard work, resilience and the dedication of our educators.
